  • FairPrice Group is lowering prices of chicken and eggs until 31 December 2026, with 30 eggs at $4.95 and a 1kg frozen chicken at $2.50, their lowest prices since 2021.

  • The initiative will deliver more than $2.5 million in savings to customers, bringing FairPrice Group’s total commitment to helping customers save on daily essentials to more than $7.5 million in 2026.

  • NTUC said the move will help ease cost pressures on workers and their families, as the Labour Movement continues to provide practical support for everyday needs.

FairPrice Group (FPG) is lowering the prices of two everyday protein staples, chicken and eggs, until the end of the year.

From now till 31 December 2026, shoppers can buy a tray of 30 Dasoon Fresh Eggs for $4.95, down from the usual $6.45, and a 1kg Seara Frozen Chicken Griller for $2.50, down from $6.

Both products will be offered at their lowest prices since 2021. The initiative is expected to deliver more than $2.5 million in savings to customers.

The promotional prices are available at more than 100 FairPrice Supermarkets, excluding FairPrice Finest, FairPrice Xtra and FairPrice Online.

Purchases are limited to two trays of eggs and two packs of frozen chicken per customer.

FPG will also extend discounts on selected fruits and vegetables until the end of the year, giving households more opportunities to save across their grocery basket.

Keeping everyday protein affordable

FPG Group CEO Vipul Chawla said the initiative aims to give households greater certainty over the cost of everyday essentials.

He said: “Chicken and eggs are daily staples for most Singapore households, and we want to give customers greater certainty that these essentials will remain within reach.

“This is our purpose in action: making every day a little better by delivering quality essentials at good value for all in Singapore.”

He added that FPG worked with its suppliers to increase the supply of chicken and eggs, allowing the retailer to lower their prices and commit to holding them until the end of the year.

The latest initiative comes as households continue to face higher costs across areas such as retail, food and transport.

Singapore’s Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) Core Inflation rose to 2.2 per cent year-on-year in August, up from 2 per cent in July, with higher food inflation contributing to the increase.

The MAS Core Inflation excludes the costs of accommodation and private road transport from the Consumer Price Index All-Items inflation.

More than $7.5 million in savings committed in 2026

The latest price reduction builds on a series of measures introduced by FPG this year to help households manage their grocery bills.

During the Lunar New Year period, FPG froze prices on all chilled pork, and selected seafood and vegetables.

From April to August, the group also froze prices on more than 500 essentials amid concerns over global uncertainty and potential pressure on food and commodity prices.

In May, FPG provided $5 million worth of savings on popular essentials for NTUC and Link members.

Together with the latest initiative, FPG has committed more than $7.5 million in 2026 to help customers save on daily essentials.

FPG has also doubled its weekly discounts for CHAS Blue and Orange cardholders to 6 per cent until the end of 2026, building on more than $10 million in CHAS savings provided this year.

The measures follow FPG's broader approach of combining price management, broad-based savings and targeted discounts to support different groups of customers.

NTUC’s support to help families manage rising costs

NTUC Secretary-General Ng Chee Meng said the lower prices would provide practical support to workers and their families as they cope with higher living costs.

“FPG's commitment to lower and hold prices on everyday staples such as chicken and eggs will help ease the load at the dinner table.

“Caring for workers and their families is at the heart of our social mission, and the Labour Movement will continue to do all it can to help them manage their everyday needs,” said Mr Ng.

Making better nutrition more accessible

Beyond keeping prices affordable in its stores, FPG and its philanthropic arm, FairPrice Foundation, are also working to improve access to protein among vulnerable communities.

Under its Protein Pledge, FairPrice Foundation has committed to provide $1 million worth of fresh protein to vulnerable communities by 2030, with fresh eggs forming a key part of the distributions.

The Foundation also recently piloted its Stay Strong programme with Tan Tock Seng Hospital to strengthen seniors' knowledge of nutrition and their access to nutritious essentials.

FairPrice Foundation's research found that half of Singapore's seniors are not meeting their recommended protein intake.

The latest initiative adds to FPG's ongoing efforts to keep everyday essentials affordable while helping Singaporeans access better nutrition.
